Nia Long will star in Dreams of the Moon, a film that is inspired by a true story from Inner City Films. She will also serve as executive producer and it is directed by Alfons Adetuyi.
What We Know:
- This Indie film tells the story of an African American girl who aspires to to become an astronaut in her small mining town.
- Eden-Ducan Smith from the Spike Lee produced films See You Yesterday will also star in this upcoming film.
- According to Deadline, Denis Foon penned the screenplay. Inner City Films and Spier Films are producing the film, which is slated to begin shooting this April in South Africa. This will mark the second collaboration between the two companies, which previously teamed on romantic comedy Love Jacked, starring Amber Stevens West, Shamier Anderson, Mike Epps, and David Keith. It’s currently available to stream on Netflix.
- Long will also be seen on the big screen in the Apple TV+ film The Banker. She also just wrapped up production on Fatal Affair for Netflix, in which she is serving as both star and producer on the film.
This anoucement comes just days after the death of Katherine Johnson, a black female mathematician that was depicted in the film Hidden Figures.
