Brian McKnight is to release his Kobe Bryant tribute on what could be his final album.
What We Know:
- In a video posted on Instagram, the singer beautifully sang the lyrics to a song titled “Can’t Say Goodbye” as he played along on his acoustic guitar.
- McKnight told TMZ, he’s never seen death affect the world the way Kobe’s did and that’s taking MJ and Prince into consideration. To him, it just proved that Kobe was THAT beloved.
- Longtime Brian McKnight fans know that he wasn’t just a fan of Kobe. In 1998, the pair collaborated on a song called “Hold Me“, which features Kobe—who had a short lived stint as an aspiring rapper—spitting a verse near the end of the single.
- McKnight also once honored Kobe in his song “I Love LA”.
Other memorable tributes to Kobe since his death have included Lebron James’ ‘Black Mamba’ tattoo, Michael Jordan’s touching statement, and a moment of silence during the Super Bowl, followed by a subtle tribute during Shakira and J.Lo’s halftime performance.
