Black men’s support group offering healing after Kobe Bryant Death

The Lives of Men is a support group advocating for the mental health of black men. The Lives of Men is providing the opportunity for black men to come together in one room and openly discuss their emotions after the aftermath of Kobe Bryant‘s tragic death.

What We Know:

  • Founder and creator of The Lives of Men, Jason Rosario, decided to end the trend of black men mourning in silence.  He’s bringing Black men together with a support group to talk about how they feel after losing the icon, Kobe Bryant.
  • “I think it’s important not just to become aware of them, but also channel them in a positive way, in a healing way, in a productive way,” Rosario tells TheGrio.
  • Rosario created a ‘The Lives of Men Group Therapy’ event Thursday evening at The Black Gotham Experience where over 50 men gathered. This created an open and safe space where black men can discuss their emotions and grief alongside licensed professionals.
  • During the event, black men shared their thoughts and feelings of the loss of Bryant. They also told and relived the moments, they heard the news of the basketball icon’s death on Sunday, January 26, 2020.
