North Carolina Gubernatorial Candidate Says Planned Parenthood Aims to Destroy ‘Entire Black Race’

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, who’s running for governor in this year’s election, used an event honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday to accuse the Planned Parenthood organization of committing Black genocide through its abortion services.

What We Know:

  • “There is no doubt that when Planned Parenthood was created, it was created to destroy the entire Black race,” Forest proclaimed at the Church of God in Christ in Raleigh, NC.
  • Forest isn’t the first politician to assert that Planned Parenthood’s agenda is to practice eugenics in black neighborhoods and that abortion poses a threat black people specifically. The overall history of reproductive medicine and race is problematic
  • Conservative Christians have claimed Planned Parenthood and other similar organizations have used abortion to eliminate the Black race for decades. The outcry insists that prejudice within the medical community has led to more Black women being pressured into ending pregnancies than any other race.
  • People who acknowledge the Black genocide concept often point out that Black women in the U.S. make up nearly 30% of recorded abortions, despite only being 13% of the female population. A PBS documentary described that these figures vary between reproductive rights advocates and anti-abortion activists.

Forest now seeks Republican nomination in North Carolina’s primary on March 3rd. Gov. Roy Cooper is considered to be the candidate that will most likely win that vote, since he’s favored to win the Democratic primary for bidding towards a second term.
