Lindsey Graham’s Democratic Challenger Jaime Harrison Raises $3.5 Million In 3 Months

Jaime Harrison, the South Carolina Democrat running for U.S. Senate, raised more than $3.5 million in the last three months of 2019.

What We Know:

  • Harrison is running to dislodge Lindsey Graham out of his senatorial seat. Furthermore, Graham has held the position for three terms, and from Harrison’s fundraising numbers, he may not have that position for long.
  • According to The Root, Harrison’s campaign is claiming that his fundraising gain is the most that any South Carolina Democratic challenger has ever raised. The campaign also lauded that Harrison has raked in donations from voters in all 46 counties in South Carolina. Sequentially, from more than 112,000 contributions, with donations averaging out around $27. 
  • Equally important, the campaign discussed that in October, it had raised $3.29 million over the third quarter and ended it with $8.5 million cash on hand. 
  • According to Harrison’s campaign site, the South Carolina Democrat was born and raised in South Carolina. Harrison is the son of a single teenage mom and was raised by his grandmother. He struggled with the trials of poverty, but his teachers and mentors helped him through those conditions. With their aid, Harrison went on to attend Yale University and Georgetown Law.
