The Kenya Defense forces and US troops fought back any further attacks towards the facility, according to CNN.
  • The attack was lead by Al-Shabaab, US Africa Command. He pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda. He’s responsible for military diplomacy within Africa. The attack happened at the Kenya Defense Force in Manda Bay. US Special Operations troops worked on this site in the past. The Americans currently use this area to train allies and respond to any potential attacks.
  • US Army Gen. Stephen Townsend stated: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of our teammates who lost their lives today. As we honor their sacrifice, let’s also harden our resolve. Alongside our African and international partners, we will pursue those responsible for this attack and al-Shabaab who seeks to harm Americans and U.S. interests. We remain committed to preventing al-Shabaab from maintaining a safe haven to plan deadly attacks against the U.S. homeland, East African and international partners.”

The names of the people killed and injured have not been released.
