The Senate approved Gov. John Carney’s selection of Montgomery-Reeves in November.
What We Know:
- Former Vice Chancellor Tamika Montgomery-Reeves is replacing Supreme Court Justice Collins Seitz Jr. Seitz was confirmed as chief justice in place of retiring Chief Justice Leo Strine Jr.
- The investiture is at 2 p.m. at Howard High School in Wilmington. The event is not open to the public due to limited seating.
- “She has served as vice chancellor on Delaware Court of chancery since 2015. She was the first African American and the second woman to serve as a judge on that court,” according to Delawareonline.
- “Montgomery-Reeves came to Delaware permanently in 2011 when former Chancery Court Chancellor William B. Chandler III who was opening the Wilmington office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she was made partner,” stated Delawareonline.
Montgomery-Reeves is also a graduate of the University of Mississippi and University of Georgia law school.
