To Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the biggest celebration of black women, Essence has announced it will be extending its annual festival to five days.
What We Know:
- The announcement marks the first time that the festival will be held for this long. From July 1-5, people will be able to head to New Orleans to celebrate with the iconic Black magazine and all it represents.
- The longer festival will bring more opportunities to focus on advancing economic development, education, and entrepreneurship around the city of New Orleans and throughout Louisiana.

- Essence also revealed that they have signed to continue having the annual celebration held in New Orleans for an additional 5 years. “Our decision to remain in New Orleans, Louisiana was ultimately rooted in the landmark partnership that we have developed with the City and the State over the past 25 years and in our collective intentionality to bring even more depth to that relationship,” said Michelle Ebanks, CEO of ESSENCE Communications.
- Though the performance lineup has not yet been revealed, attendees can enjoy returning experiences like Beauty Carnival, Wellness House, Fashion House, Power Stage, ESSENCE After Dark, Global Black Economic Forum and E-Suite.
