A 60-year-old man passed away after a robbery in the Bronx.
What We Know:
- Juan Fresnada was beaten during a $1 robbery that took place early on Christmas Eve. It took place at 1:30 a.m. on Third Avenue in the Morrisania section. He died Friday afternoon at the Bronx hospital.
- Fresnada was walking with his 29-year-old partner Byron Caceres when a man approached them and harassed them for money. Fresnada and the man refused which led to the beating. Two other men joined the initial attacker in beating Fresnada and Caceres. A dollar was taken and the assailants ran westbound on East 164th Street.
- It’s not clear if it was Fresnada or the younger man who refused to seek help and get medical attention. Surveillance photos and videos have been opened to the public in hopes of getting a lead on the attackers, according to ABC.
Caceres survived and went on to comment “He tried to defend me” and that the muggers didn’t say anything to make them think the attack was a hate crime.
