Emmalyn Nguyen went for breast augmentation on Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. She suffered cardiac arrest and now has severe brain damage.
What We Know:
- Nguyen had saved up $6,000 for the surgery.
- During the procedure, she was left alone for 15 minutes after she was administered the anesthesia at the surgery facility in Greenwood Village. Her family claims at 2:15 the faculty “discovered that Ms. Nguyen’s lips and face were blue and that cyanosis was quickly spreading to her upper extremities and torso”. They also claimed that no one attempted to resuscitate her. She suffered two cardiac arrests.
- It wasn’t until 5 hours later that the nurse called 911. Nguyen spent 22 days in the hospital before being taken to a rehab facility, where she can’t eat, talk, walk or take care of herself.
- The family filed a lawsuit against her plastic surgeon and nurse last week. Lynn Fam (her mother) stated: “I was fine with it. We didn’t think anything like that was going to happen to our daughter. I was a teenage girl once before…to us, it felt safe,” according to Fox.
In the United States, about 400,000 women go through surgery. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons says there are many dangers to the surgery including anesthesia risks.
