Michael Vick will join Nike in a new deal. Some people want to bring up Vick’s past to show why he doesn’t deserve this.
What We Know:
- Vick spent two years in federal prison due to him being involved with dogfighting. He lost a $2 million endorsement deal with Nike in 2007 and had his Zoom Vick V sneakers suspended, according to NPR.
- Now, he has donated much to charity to fight against animal cruelty, speaks out against dogfighting, and has tried to keep his name clean since then.
- A Nike spokeswoman stated, “We do not condone those actions, but we support the positive changes he has made to better himself off the field.”
- The terms of the Nike deal aren’t public. Vick is excited about the long term deal with Nike. This will be the first time a brand has dropped an athlete from a deal and then resigned him. People on Twitter have mixed opinions about this.
