“I am Jesus Christ” is a video game set to debut early next year. The content of the game is creating some controversy.
What We Know:
- The game is listed as “coming soon” on Steam and is a simulator game inspired by stories from the New Testament of the Bible. Based on the game trailer, players will play as Jesus Christ performing miracles, healing followers, and walking on water.
- The open-world game will allow players to have a “realistic fight with Satan” and perform “over 30 miracles”. Players can earn “superpowers” from the Holy Spirit through praying, baptizing followers, and performing good works.
- YouTubers in the comments section of the video mocked the game for its content. For example, people have commented “Mission hint: ‘What would Jesus do..'”, “If this is a success the inevitable sequel will be Jesus Kart: Jesus take the wheel”, and “The player’s guide has been out for 2000 years.”
- Other people were critical of the game. One person commented on the PlayWay, the game developer’s Facebook page: “Too far, PlayWay. Thumbs down.” Another person wrote: ” I’m not sure how I feel about this,” in response to the game’s trailer.

The developers of this game also created another religious game, “Priest Simulator”, where players compete to serve and minister to communities as a priest.
