Rowan University, in southern New Jersey, has received criticism for lack of mental health support in response to three students committing suicide this current semester.
What We Know:
- These deaths led to outrage on social media. Alumni and current students are saying the university is not helping students with their mental health problems, according to CNN.
Expose the lies:
There have been previous successful suicides at this spot. There is a waiting list months long for Rowan therapists. There have been 8 suicides this semester. @RowanUniversity This was not an accident. Help your students https://t.co/Yy60Plv5Io— Danelle Spaulding (@Dlbspaulding) December 5, 2019
“Student ‘FALLS’ from parking garage ..”at Rowan University has to be the most ignorant response to the mental health crisis on campus I have ever seen

Hey Rowan University, can we please take that mental health wait list and hire people to help trim it?
I would say this is getting out of hand, but it’s been out of hand for a while now.
We know you have the money.

- Rowan’s president says the university is addressing the issue. He went on to say, “Losing three students in one semester is beyond description. How do you look into the faces of the parents of these kids?”
- Monica Foley and Destiny Hall, Rowan students, organized a vigil on Friday night in honor of the students. Around 100 students came out to show their support. Some students brought candles while organizers provided some to those who didn’t have one.
- Due to the sensitive nature of the deaths, the Glassboro Police Department has declined to comment on the deaths and stated that it is an ongoing investigation.
