In addition to the nearly $3,000 awarded, the judge has also given a one-time payment of $4,150 for Cleopatra to study abroad.
What We Know:
- Cleopatra Singleton (21) is the daughter of the late and great filmmaker John Singleton, who passed away in April of this year from a stroke. It is reported that Cleopatra petitioned the court amid his abrupt passing, arguing and justifying that her father provided for her financially.
- John’s mother, Sheila Ward, is currently administrator of his estate. Apparently, she also has access to his will and plans on filing it with the court to determine who would get what. According to Forbes, John’s will dates back to 1993.
- John’s estate is allegedly worth $35 million and has went up half a million after his film company, New Deal Productions, was granted $515,472 from an agreement with Sony over the success of John’s 2001 hit Baby Boy.
- There were reports of conflict between Sheila and Cleopatra, with Sheila being accused of trying to control all of John’s assets and push out his seven kids.
John reportedly didn’t have a trust, so his estate will likely go through a lengthy probate court process and hopefully be divided evenly between his children.
