Google Will Remove Trump Ads

Google has taken down 300 video ads from President Trump’s reelection campaign for violating company policy.

What We Know:

  • The ad ran for multiple days before being taken down. The policy violations weren’t clearly stated, according to Fox.
  • YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki stated: “Well, first of all there are lots of very successful conservative creators on YouTube… Our systems, our algorithms, they don’t have any concept of understanding what’s a Democrat, what’s a Republican”. She went on to discuss how her system doesn’t have political bias and cited that there are Democrats who have also complained about censorship of their own content.
  • Conservative groups like PragerU and Live Action have also complained about Google’s switch in policy which they perceive as censorship of Conservative media. Craig Strazzeri, the chief marketing officer for Prager University attacked Google for these censorships with: “There is so much evidence every day that they continue to restrict us, simply because we’re conservatives”.

YouTube has removed more than 17,000 channels and 100,000 videos along with at least 500 million comments that violate their policies.
