Texas Parents Dissolved Remains of 2-year-old daughter

38-year-old Monica Dominguez and 32-year-old Gerardo Zavala Loredo were arrested for dissolving the remains of their 2-year-old daughter in a tub of acid after the child’s death.

What We Know:

  • According to Fox News, Dominguez and Zavala Loredo were arrested earlier in February after police found the remains of their daughter, Rebecka Zavala, in their apartment.
  • They received they’re sentencing on Friday. Dominguez was found guilty of tampering with evidence of a human corpse, which is a second-degree felony. In addition to that, she was charged with endangering a child, a state jail felony; and abuse of a corpse, another state jail felony. She will serve 20 years, two years for the second count and two years for the third count. These sentences will be served consecutively with a 10-year revocation sentence for violating her probation period.
  • Zavala Loredo made a plea deal of 14 years for tampering with evidence of a human corpse, a second-degree felony.
