According to ESPN Ryan Costello, a prospect in the Minnesota Twins organization passed away in his sleep.
What We Know:
- A statement from the Auckland Tuatara team states that Costello died of natural causes. The statement also expressed the team’s feelings regarding Costello’s death. “It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Auckland Tuatara third baseman Ryan Costello overnight in Auckland.”
- Costello was scheduled to play his first season with Australian Baseball League’s Auckland Tuataras later this year.
- After Costello’s death was announced the Twins expressed their grief on Twitter. The Team tweeted, “We are saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Ryan Costello. The entire Twins organization sends our most sincere condolences to Ryan’s family, friends, coaches, and teammates.”
- Costello, a native of Wethersfield, Connecticut, was drafted in 2017 by Seattle Mariners, but in 2018 he was traded to the Twins. In 2019, he spent his time playing in Florida.
