Popeyes shared a tweet on Monday announcing that its famous sandwich, that started sandwich wars with restaurants such as Chik-Fil-A, is returning this Sunday.

What We Know:
- The announcement showed an image of a Chik-Fil-A sign showing that they are closed on Sundays. Next to that image is an image of Popeyes’ sign unveiling the words “Open Sundays.” Chik-Fil-A is closed on Sundays and according to the Chick-Fil-A website, this policy was established back in 1946 so that employees could rest and worship if they choose to.
- The Popeyes sandwich debuted in August and sold out nationwide within weeks. It went as far as to prompt a man from Tennessee to sue the company for false advertising and deceptive practices by an entity to the public.
- On August 19th, the sandwich war began on Twitter when Chik-Fil-A took a jab at the new sandwich Popeyes was offering. Chik-Fil-A said in a tweet that it’s chicken sandwich is the original, and Popeyes responded saying, “y’all good?”
This war caused Popeyes, Chick-Fil-A and other fast-food chains to bash each other on Twitter, claiming their own franchise has the best-tasting chicken sandwich. Who will be the ultimate winner of the chicken sandwich war?
