George Bush praised Ellen for her defending of attacks from the Twitter mob that shamed her for watching a football game with the former president, according to Fox News.
What We Know:
- Ellen and Bush sat together during the Dallas Cowboys-Green Bay Packers game on Sunday. Pictures taking during the event led Ellen to have to defend her “friend”. The Twitter mob began attacking Ellen.
What #EllenDeGeneres meant by “being friends with someone with different views” is that her wealth and status shields her from criticism for doing the dumbest things (See also: Kevin Heart reaction).

- Ellen went on to talk about it on her show and in an interview. “When we were invited, I was aware that I was going to be surrounded with people from very different views and beliefs. And I’m not talking about politics… I was rooting for the Packers.”

I think what #EllenDeGeneres shows us when she declares her friendship with George W Bush despite his antipathy to gays and his destruction of 1/2 a million iraqis lives and thousands of US troops is that extreme wealth removes your moral compass b/c you become entitled.

We’re all different and I think that we’ve forgotten that that’s okay that we’re all different… but just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them.”
Bush went on to say that he appreciated the comments and deeply respected Ellen.
