Action of Forgiveness from Brother of Botham Jean & Judge Leaves Everyone with Conflicting Feelings

The brother of Bothman Jean asked Amber Guyger for a hug after being sentenced to 10 years in prison, according to NBC.

What We Know:

  • Amber Guyger was convicted of the manslaughter of Botham Jean, a man she thought was invading her apartment when in realitly she was in the wrong apartment.
  • Once she was sentenced, angry chants sparked from the crowd. Botham Jean’s younger brother, Brandt Jean hugged Amber Guyger after the sentencing and stated “If you truly are sorry, I know I can speak for myself, I forgive you…I don’t even want you to go to jail, I want the best for you. Because I know that’s exactly what Botham would want you to do.”

  • During the trial Jean said how he wished he was the one who was shot. There was also a video of Bothman’s final moments that left people sobbing.
  • There was certainly a lot of mixed reactions online about this.
