On Sunday, Antonio Brown tweeted that he would no longer play in the NFL.

What We Know:

  • Despite reported interest from other teams following his release from New England, retirement appears to be on the table for Brown.
  • Brown took shots at New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and former teammate Ben Roethlisberger as he voiced his displeasure with his recent release due to his sexual assault allegations.
  • Brown stated:

Will not be playing in the @NFL anymore these owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at anytime we will see if the @NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up !

  • Brown’s previous team, The Raiders, voided his guaranteed $29.125 million contract for conduct detrimental to the team after he missed practices and got into a heated exchanged with the general manager Mike Manock.
  • The Patriots are also withholding Brown’s $9 million signing bonus that was set to be paid.
  • There are teams still interested in Brown, but they wanted more insight into his legal standing and outlook with the NFL.

A league investigation into the claims is still ongoing.
