Shooting in Northwest Washington, D.C. Leaves 1 Killed and 5 Injured

Thursday night in Washington D.C., a shooting leaves one dead with five injured, according to Time.

What We Know:

  • The shooting took place in the courtyard of an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Columbia Road Northwest.

  • The D.C Police are looking for two male suspects with an AK style rifle in a light-colored Nissan sedan.
  • The victims were five adult males and one adult female. 20-year-old Sean Coleman-Bey passed away. The five injured had wounds that varied from critical to noncritical.

  • Council member Brianne Nadeau called for red flag laws due to this shooting. These laws allow for individuals to report possible threats which leads to the accused’s 2nd amendment rights being taken away until proven innocent. An individual who falsely accuses will be heavily charged depending on the bill. Some argue that if the killer didn’t have his/her gun the D.C. shooting wouldn’t have occurred.

Police will be interviewing witnesses and check security cameras. They haven’t found any motive for the shooting.
