Cocaine seems to keep washing up on Florida’s beaches in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.
What We Know:
- A duffel bag with 15 bricks of cocaine washed up onto the shore in Cocoa Beach, in Florida.
- About 15 miles south another discovery was made around 8:00 AM Tuesday morning at Paradise Beach Park. A beachgoer found that a suspicious brick washed onto shore and after turning it to the Melbourne police it was tested determined to be a kilo of cocaine.
- On the brick was the beginning of a word that spelled D-I-A-M-A-N-T and it was wrapped in a way consistent with narcotics. One kilo is estimated to be worth up to $30,000 and both findings have been turned over to the U.S. Custom and Border Protection.
- Manny Hernandez, a spokesman for the Cocoa Beach Police Department made a statement saying “There is a possibility that more will come onshore, especially now with these conditions. It could be coming from anywhere.”
After making landfall as a category 2 Hurricane Dorian has left some damage in the east coast. Beachgoers specifically are urged to let the police know of any suspicious items found.
