Sen. Tim Scott says that Democratic candidates of 2020 are trying to ‘dupe’ black voters with racism.
What We Know:
- In an interview with Fox News’, “The Story”, Sen. Scott expressed, “This is an opportunity for the Democratic Party to try to figure out a way to dupe the African-American voters, not only in South Carolina but, around the country because they really have nothing but, empty promises to run on.”
- Sen. Scott currently serves as the junior U.S. Senator from South Carolina’s first district, meaning he chooses committee assignments, as well as, physical offices. After Will Hurd resigns, Scott will be the only African-American Republican in Congress.
- Scott previously served one term in the South Carolina General Assembly. He was responding to Democratic presidential candidate and former Texas House of Representatives Beto O’Rourke’s statement on Twitter, pertaining to racism.
- Sen. Scott also claimed that O’Rourke and other fellow Democrats are trying to convince Black voters that Trump is racist. They are also trying to impose that he doesn’t represent minorities in an uplifting and positive way.
- Scott is persistent in making Black voters see that Trump isn’t racist by claiming he has helped minorities in America by reforming the criminal justice system, as well as, boosting up unemployment rates within the African-American and Hispanic communities.
