Dale Earnhardt Jr. & His Family Survive Terrible Plane Crash

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family survived a plane crash on Thursday in east Tennessee, according to WJHL-TV. The family was hospitalized and left Elizbeth Municipal Airport.

What We Know:

  • Earnhardt and his family were going to the next NASCAR race at Bristol Motor Speedway. While landing the Cessna Citation business jet, it bounced twice upon landing, rolled off the end of the runway and caught on fire.
  • The family has seen tragedy before. Earnhardt Sr. died at the 2001 Daytona 500 in a crash. Earnhardt Jr. went on to win that race two times throughout his career.
  • Fans came out to support the family after their terrifying moment. Kelley Earnhardt Miller tweeted that the family was safe.

The FAA and two investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate and determine the probable cause of the accident.
