Bosco Ntaganda has been found guilty of 18 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
What We Know:
- Born in 1973 in Rwanda, Ntaganda began his fighting days when he was only 17.
- Ntaganda aka the ‘Terminator’, became a key leader who gave orders to his fighters to target and kill civilians.
- According to BBC, Ntaganda’s fighters were loyal to him and contributed to his gruesome massacres, rapes, sexual slavery, and usage of child soldiers.
- Ntaganda’s region has killed more than 60,000 people since 1999. There were “Forty-nine mutilated bodies strewn in a banana field. A pregnant woman killed while trying to shield herself from rape, following, children under the age of 15 conscripted to fight women and girls kept as sex slaves,” BBC said.
Ntaganda will be sentenced at a later hearing. He is the fourth person convicted by the ICC since its creation in 2002.
