Last week, A$AP Rocky was arrested in Sweden following a street fight with an unknown person. The rapper is currently being held at a Stockholm detention center as prosecutors investigate his involvement in the altercation.
What We Know:
- The 30-year-old rapper appeared in court on Friday with his lawyer Henrik Olsson Lilja. The judge ruled Rocky to remain at the center for two weeks because there’s a risk that he wouldn’t come back to Sweden if there is a trial.
- There’s a chance that Rocky could be held for longer than two weeks if prosecutors need more time to investigate. “If the investigation is finished and the prosecutor chooses to indict, then they will do that,” a spokesperson told PEOPLE Magazine. “But if the investigation is not completed by then — which is fairly likely given that two weeks is a relatively short time — the prosecutor will request that he is detained for a further two weeks. It is then for the court to decide.” Lilja believes the investigation will be completed in three to four weeks.
- Lilja told the New York Times that the rapper is ok but is concerned about his upcoming shows and his fans. He was scheduled to headline the London based Wireless festival on Sunday, along with shows in Germany, Russia and more during his European run.
- Since the arrest, he’s missed scheduled performances at the Open’er Festival in Poland as well as Longitude in Ireland.
Karin Rofander, a spokeswoman for the Swedish Prosecution Authority said the investigation was proceeding under a preliminary charge of assault. If prosecutors find sufficient evidence, they will proceed with a trial.
