Future NBA star Zion Williamson is being sued by Prime Sports Marketing LLC for leaving the company under contract.
What We Know:
- On Wednesday, Prime Sports Marketing LLC claimed Zion Williamson abandoned his contract by leaving after one month instead of fulfilling his five-year term.
- At the beginning of this month, Williamson filed a preemptive suit against PSM-LLC accusing the company of having him sign a contract that is unlawful in North Carolina. Williamson stated that the contract he signed with the LLC did not contain language required by law in the North Carolina Uniform Athlete Agents Act. According to CBSSports, by signing the contract with the president Gina Ford, Williamson ended his amateur career because Ford is not an NBPA-certified agent.
- Williamson’s attorney said, “Prime Sports has made threats towards my client, Made necessary filing of this lawsuit.”
- According to the lawsuit, “Prime Sports’ lawsuit states it was to receive 15% of compensation from Williamson’s marketing deals, CAA eventually induced Williamson to back out, telling his family CAA was better suited and could secure more compensation on deals Prime Sports has pursued.”
This is the second lawsuit in the marketing fight over former Duke star Zion Williamson.
