Roy Moore is Running for Senate Again

The disgraced, former judge, Roy Moore, is running for Senate…again.

What We Know:

  • Roy Moore announced in a press conference Thursday that he will run for Senate again in 2020.
  • During the press conference, he stated, “Can I win? Yes, I can win. Not only can I, but they know I can. That’s why there’s such opposition.”
  • He previously ran for a seat in the Senate in December 2017 but lost to Democratic Sen. Doug Jones.
  • His campaign was consumed with controversy when multiple women accused Moore of sexual misconduct. Some of the women who came forward said the incidents happened when they were minors.
  • Roy Moore was also a former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court but was ousted twice. In 2003, he refused to remove a Christian monument from the Supreme Court building but was re-elected in 2012. His second offense came in 2016 when he refused to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple.
  • The president publicly announced his disproval of Moore as a candidate in the upcoming election. He tweeted, “I have NOTHING against Roy Moore, and unlike many other Republican leaders, wanted him to win. But he didn’t, and probably won’t…..”
    • Some people just don’t quit.
