Kellen Winslow, a former first-round NFL pick, was convicted of raping a 58-year-old homeless woman Monday.
What We Know:
- The incident occurred in the beach community of Encinitas, which is north of San Diego.
- The 35-year old was also found guilty of an indecent exposure misdemeanor involving a 58-year-old woman in the front yard of her Encinitas home as well as a lewd conduct misdemeanor involving a 78-year-old woman at a Carlsbad health club.
- However, it was announced Tuesday afternoon that the jury could not reach consensus on the other counts that he had. These counts include alleged 2018 rape of a 54-year-old hitchhiking woman Winslow picked up and the 2003 rape of a high school senior after a house party.
- His attorneys argue both of these encounters were consensual and argued the women invented the allegations to gain his wealth.
- Instead of him facing life in prison, due to these other charges being dropped he will now spend a maximum of nine years behind bars.
