Vice-President Mike Pence has defended the Trump administration’s decision to ban the rainbow pride flag from flying at US embassies.
What We Know:
- In an interview with NBC, Pence stated that this was “the right decision.” He further elaborated and said that “when it comes to the American flagpole, and American embassies, and capitals around the world, one American flag flies.”
- Pence has always been against the LGBQ+ community, stating publicly that there will be societal collapse if same-sex marriage passed. That is truly one of his tame comments.
- While the administration put no restrictions on the pride flag being anywhere else at the embassies, this is just another sign of how much this administration does not care about this community.
- Despite the administration’s stance, other embassies are fighting back, with the US missions in Seoul, South Korea and Chennai in India placing large pride flags on the faces of their buildings. The embassy in Delhi has even been covered in rainbow-colored lights.
This administration will not ruin the joy that can be provided by the pride flag!
