Golden State Warriors part-owner Mark Stevens will not be allowed to attend NBA games and events for one year after he forcefully shoved Kyle Lowry in Game 3 of the NBA finals, According to Bleacherreport.
What We Know:
- During the fourth quarter Raptors star Kyle Lowry dove into the stands to try to save the ball from going out of bounds when the Warriors minority owner Mark Stevens shoved him and reportedly shouted vulgar obscenities.
- According to NBA Media Ventures, NBA code of conduct prohibits fans from engaging in physical interactions with players and or attempting to enter the court. Anyone who engage in any of these actions will immediately be ejected from the game.
- LeBron James stated, “There were so many issues here, with Stevens being part-owner of the warriors he knew the consequences of sitting court side, he still took it upon himself to forcefully push Lowry and it was uncalled for! If Lowry would have reacted and put his hands back on him all hell will break loose. I saw what I saw last-night, took me time to let it manifest into my thinking I couldn’t be quite on this!”
- Stevens will also be fined 500,000 for his behavior. Following the Warriors said that Stevens would not be allowed to attend games for the remainder of the 2019 Finals.
- Dylan Byers of NBC News also reported Stevens will likely to be forced to sell his shares of the team before next season, Bleacherreport said.
This will teach others that even co-owners can face serious consequences of their actions. Rules are rules, and if you don’t follow them, well hey, the price will be paid.
