81-year-old Former School Board Member Shoots at Cops in Wild Police Chase

Solomon Stinson is facing multiple charges for firing a gun at two people and leading the police on a high speed car chase.

What We Know:

  • The series of events began on Sunday when Stinson started an argument with an unidentified man in the the parking lot of Pembroke Lakes Mall. The argument was supposedly over a parking spot. Stinson then “fired shots at the male victim’s vehicle, shattering the rear window,” the Miami Herald reported. Stinson also followed an unidentified woman as she was driving out of the parking lot and fired shots at her.
  • The incident allegedly led police on a car chase, where a few gunshots were exchanged.
  • After losing control of his car and crashing it, he fled the scene on foot. Police were able to track Stinson down but he refused to comply with their orders.
  • Stinson was arrested and taken to Memorial Hospital West for treatment of minor injuries. No one else was injured.

Police said that earlier that day, Stinson “committed an aggravated assault in the City of Miramar” prior to the shootings in Pembroke Pines. This story is still developing.
