Charges Dropped- Migos’ Offset Phone-Slapping case dismissed

Police have dropped a felony charge of damage to property against Offset.

What We  Know:

  • Earlier this month, we reported that Offset was in hot water for allegedly slapping a phone out of a fan’s hand in a Target store. Video footage shows the fan attempting to record the rapper as he exited the store. The iPhone 8 fell on the ground and was damaged, according to a police report filed April 26.
  • The case has been closed by the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, according to police in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
  • Prosecutors decided not to pursue the charges against Offset after him and the 18-year-old fan, Junior Gibbons, reached a mutual agreement on their own. Gibbons said his main reason for filing the report was to get Offset to pay for a replacement, and he didn’t want the rapper arrested, according to TMZ.
  • Sandy Springs police Sgt. Sam Worsham told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “all parties involved were able to come to an agreement.”
  • Prosecutors in Clayton asked a judge to revoke the rapper’s bond following the Sandy Springs incident. The motion was canceled on Wednesday.

Offset still has pending criminal charges in Clayton County related to a July 2018 traffic stop.
