Potential Georgia Abortion Law Not Supported By Disney

Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that it would be “very difficult” to film in Georgia if the state approves the new abortion bill in a recent interview with Reuters.

What We Know:

  • On May 7, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed the bill banning abortion after a “fetal heartbeat” is detected. This can happen as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.
  • The state is following the lead of other controversial states like Alabama in these harsh abortion laws, leading to numerous popular companies, like for example Netflix, to stop conducting business in these states.
  • The primary reason for Iger to stop filming in the state is due to how numerous employees of the company would be against it.
  • “I think many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we will have to heed their wishes in that regard. Right now we are watching it very carefully,” Iger stated.
  • This would be a giant loss for the state due to Disney shooting portions of not only “Black Panther” but “Avengers: Endgame” in the state.

With Hollywood showing its disapproval for this abortion legislation, these states will definitely feel the backlash.
