Meghan Markle refuses to the attend the Royal Family meeting with President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
What We Know:
- The President and First Lady have plans to spend three days in the United Kingdom beginning on June 3rd. As there are several scheduled events for the Royal and First families to attend, the Dutchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle says she won’t be there.
- On May 6th, the Duke and Duchess welcomed the birth of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Being that Markle gave birth under a month ago, it is very possible that would be her main reason for not meeting with the Trumps.
- Although the Duchess has made no formal comment as to why she won’t attend the events, she has been vocal about the president in the past. On The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore, Markle said, “Trump is divisive.” She also made a joke in this same interview about moving to Canada if Trump is elected, this interview was in May of 2016.
Although she will not be present, the rest of the Royal Family intends on engaging with the Trumps in her absence.
