A well-known Las Vegas hotel is in hot water for barring Meek Mill and threatening to have him arrested for trespassing.
What We Know:
- The Philly rapper posted videos of him being confronted by two employees at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Saturday. The staff members told him that he could be arrested for trespassing if he entered the hotel. Meek continuously asked why he was being denied entry, but the security guard did not give him a firm answer.
- Additionally, the hotel mentioned that a club on the premises reached capacity on Saturday. The Cosmopolitan alleged that the club knew about the rapper’s arrival and told him he would not have access to the club due to capacity issues.
- The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas issued a statement on Monday saying the safety and security of their guests were their top priority. “The recent situation regarding Meek Mill related to a matter of security, not race, and any reports citing otherwise are false,” the statement read, according to CNN.
- Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, wrote a demand letter to the Cosmopolitan and accused them of racist practices. “…we have learned that the Cosmopolitan maintains a list of African American recording artists who should be denied access for no other reason than their culture and skin color,” Tacopina said. He goes on to demand that the hotel apologize to the rapper or face legal action.
Meek took to social media and addressed the issue by mentioning that he is not the only black entertainer that has faced discrimination in this way.
If you come from our culture you should never step foot in the cosmopolitan hotel they just really racist as hell …. something really has to be done in Las Vegas what they doing to black people!
