The historic Trans World Airlines terminal, newly renovated into a hotel, has a cocktail bar in a literal airplane and a rooftop bar overlooking the runway.

- The new TWA Hotel opens at John F. Kennedy airport today, bringing with it a slew of new dining options to Queens.
- TWA terminal includes a 512-room hotel, a restaurant, three bars, a coffee counter, a food hall, and more to come.
- CEO Tyler Morse says he expects people to come in from all over, despite the fact that it can take over an hour to get to the TWA Hotel from Manhattan. Morse is expecting roughly 10,000 people daily, that includes people who work at the airport, flight attendants and pilots, Queens residents looking for something fun to do and a slew of aviation geeks.
- The purpose of this design is to make you feel as though you’ve walked back into the 1960s. “The lobby itself can feel like a scene out of The Jetsons, as designed by famed architect Eero Saarinen. There’s a neo-futuristic dome seemingly held up by air alone, with zero columns and only four points for content with the ground,” Morse says.
- TWA Hotel rates start a $249, with discounts for advanced payment, the hotel also offers four 12-hour partial day options for weary travelers wanting a nap, from $149. TWA is not a luxurious hotel, you’ll get in room Pringles and a box of junior mints but no room service, That is disappointing.
So what does the hotel service offer you for paying that amount of money? Restful sleep and quite rooms, oh yeah! The feel of being in the 1950s.
