Former NBA forward Lamar Odom releases a book where he confesses to being a sex addict.
What We Know:
- In 2015, Lamar Odom overdosed and was hospitalized after falling into a coma. He overdosed at the Love Branch brothel in Las Vegas, Nevada two years after his divorce from Khole Khardashian. The couple was married for four years. It wasn’t until the near death experience that Odom knew he needed to change his life.
- Odom gave People an exclusive look at his new memoir, Darkness to Light, where he confessed to being a sex addict and having sex with over 2,000 women. In the excerpt given to People, he said, “I am a sex addict.”
- The memoir dives exclusively into this dark time in Odom’s life. He talks about cheating on Khloe and the exact night he overdosed. He explained how he felt like his addiction was a factor of his infidelity. He told People reporter Aili Nahas, “I was shocked and embarrassed, I wanted to take it back, but you can’t. I wanted to hide it, but that sick sin was hard for me to hide…I had a problem.”
- He explained how sex was a trigger for him to do drugs. He said it amplified that “good feeling.” Odom could have easily died in the hospital from overdosing, but fortunately he recovered. He told Nahas that being in the hospital was a wake up call, he said, “This can’t happen again.”
Since getting out of the hospital, Lamar Odom has been taking the steps towards recovery and a better lifestyle. His memoir Darkness to Light will be available May 28th, 2019.
