Entering the contest as Miss North Carolina, Cheslie Kryst emerged as the 2019 Miss USA last night at the pageant in Reno, Nevada.

What We Know:

  • According to her Miss USA bio, Kryst is 28 years old and serves as a civil litigation lawyer who spends her free time working to reduce prison sentences for free. She received her MBA from Wake Forest University, as well as an undergraduate degree in business from the University of South Carolina. She ran track in college, and is licensed to practice law in two states.
  • Kryst not only practices law, but also runs her own fashion blog. Kryst said she started “White Collar Glam” after struggling to find appropriate, affordable and professional clothing. She also aspires to create her own workwear line one day.
  • During the questions portion of the competition, Kryst was asked whether or not the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have gone too far.  She responded, “I don’t think these movements have gone too far, what #MeToo and #TimesUp are about is making sure that we foster safe and inclusive workspaces in our country.”
  • The pageant was held at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. Kryst pointed out that she was happy the pageant was being held in Nevada, being that it’s the only state with female majorities in both houses.

Kryst competed in pageants in high school, but winning the Miss USA title brought forth joy she didn’t know was possible.  The world now watches as she advances to the Miss Universe competition.
