Regina King has landed a multi-year first look deal with Netflix.
What We Know:
- The deal with Netflix is to produce films and series underneath her production company, Royal Ties with King’s sister, Reina King, serving as head of production. In an interview with Deadline, King said, “I am beyond thrilled to join the Netflix family.”
- Netflix has been landing major deals with many celebrities lately, Regina King joining the likes of Shonda Rhimes, Kenya Barris, and Ryan Murphy.
- King has an impressive resume including winning an Oscar for her Sharon Rivers role in If Beale Street Could Talk, as well as her third Emmy for playing Latrice Butler in Seven Seconds. Her two previous Emmy’s were in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie category for American Crime.
- Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos told Deadline, “She’s been a trailblazer for years, with boundless creativity and impeccable taste in projects, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she will bring her formidable talents to Netflix.”
