Former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile is joining Fox News as a contributor, she announced Monday in her inaugural post on the network’s website.
What We Know:
- The political strategist is an author, a columnist and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University. She is the first African American woman to manage a presidential campaign, leading Al Gore’s White House bid in 2000.
- Brazile was the interim chairwoman of the DNC during the 2016 presidential election, serving from June 2016 to February 2017.
- Brazile was at the center of a controversy sparked after WikiLeaks dumped numerous emails from the Hillary Clinton campaign days before Donald Trump won the presidency. Some of the emails showed Brazile had forwarded potential topics of a CNN town hall to the campaign, a move she later described as “a mistake I will forever regret.”
- Brazile has also lashed out at the network in the past. In a 2012 tweet, for instance, she wrote that it was “sad to see Fox News… try to take us back,” adding the hashtag “#pathetic.”
- Brazile is not expected to participate in any debate or town hall on Fox News. She will offer political analysis on the network and on Fox Business. Her first appearance as a Fox News contributor was scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday on “The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino.”
