Woman kept silent about witnessing King’s assassination

On April 4, 1968, Mary Ellen Ford was a witness to the aftermath of the shooting at the Lorraine Motel that claimed King’s life — and changed history. In the footnotes of history, she is known only in police records as Witness #43.
